We’re Hiring a Math Instructional Coach (Contract) — Deep Math Thinkers Only

Agiri Learning Consultants is seeking a high-impact Math Instructional Coach to join our coaching bench and support NYC and Greater NY high schools this spring.

Let’s be clear:
This role is not for every math coach.

We are looking for someone with deep mathematical understanding —someone who can model what excellent math instruction looks like, not just describe it and adapt lessons to address learning gaps , while maintaining grade-level rigor.

This role is for you if:

• You can model multiple solution paths to the same Algebra or Geometry problem
• You can clearly explain why methods work, not just how
• You can walk into a classroom and model strong representations, questioning, and mathematical discourse
• You can adapt grade-level lessons to address prerequisite or remedial gaps without watering down the mathematics
• You coach teachers by anchoring feedback in student work and student thinking
• You are committed to improving students’ learning experiences in math classrooms as a pathway to future opportunities

This is a part-time contract role with meaningful room to grow for coaches who demonstrate strong practice and alignment.

What You’ll Do

As a Math Instructional Coach, you will:

• Coach grades 9–12 math teachers and instructional leaders in Algebra and Geometry
• Model high-quality math instruction , including multiple strategies and representations
• Support strong implementation of Illustrative Mathematics and other concept based math programs
• Design and facilitate content-rich professional learning for teachers and leaders
• Use student work, observation, and data to drive coaching cycles
• Document coaching goals, progress, and impact clearly and professionally

Time Commitment

This is a contract role with 10–25 coaching days available during the spring , depending on school contracts and successful completion of an initial pilot engagement.

Compensation (Pay Transparency)

This is a contract role with a daily rate ranging from $500–$750 , based on experience, scope of work, and successful completion of an initial pilot engagement.

Selection Process

Finalists will be invited into a paid pilot coaching engagement . This pilot allows us to observe real coaching practice—including math modeling, multiple solution strategies, use of student work, and facilitation of adult learning —before extending longer-term engagements.

Non-Negotiables

Strong candidates will have:

• Deep math content knowledge (conceptual + procedural)
• Experience coaching adults (3+ years required)
• Experience teaching in urban public school settings (4+ years required)
• Strong facilitation skills and emotional intelligence
• A demonstrated commitment to equity, culturally responsive practice, and equity minded work

Former NYCDOE educators are welcome if you have been out of the system for at least one year .
